Professional Bio
Marco Invernizzi is an Italian bonsai artist, teacher and author from Milan. He began practising bonsai in 1991 and studied with Salvatore Liporace from 1992 to 1997.¹²
After completing his studies in art and design, Invernizzi moved to Japan, where he studied for almost four years under Masahiko Kimura. He became the first non-Japanese disciple to undertake a traditional bonsai apprenticeship with Kimura.¹²³
After returning from Japan in 2001, Invernizzi developed an international career as a professional bonsai artist and teacher. He has taught through workshops, demonstrations and lectures across Europe, the Americas, Africa and Australia, and has worked with major private bonsai collections in the West.¹²
He has written for specialist bonsai magazines since the late 1990s and is the author of Going to Japan on the Bonsai Trail, published in 2003.¹⁴ His background in design also contributed to the development of specialized bonsai tools, including the ICHIBAN tool produced with Masakuni.⁵
